Syllabus 1AA

                          1^st semester (winter 2016)

   Aims:

   to get to know each other

   to standardize the level of English

   to practise some grammar

   to learn some vocabulary in the field of social work

   Skills:

   reading: texts in the book English for Social Services (+ some additional
   texts)

   speaking: presentations, being active in the class

   writing: a few written pieces of homework, a description of an exhibition

   listening: exercises in the course book, videos and follow talking of
   classmates

   grammar: revision of what is necessary

   vocabulary: linked to the topics

   Topics:

   The Alcoholic Nation

   Volunteering

   Outreach services

   How to pass our English course?

     * be active in the lessons

     * 75% attendance (you can miss four sessions)

     * hand in written tasks (in time - 17^th November)

     * perform a presentation (topic: introduce yourself)

     * pass tests (chance to retake twice each), 5/10^th October, 7/14^th
       November, 5/12/14^th December
